Legacy Reunion

We have chosen to hold a reunion this year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the initial 50 (plus one) sojourners to West Africa. This educational experience was the first of its kind for NCSU faculty, staff and students. Since that time, a number of other excursions have been made as well as other spin-off study abroad experiences. We are grateful for tireless leadership of Drs. Witherspoon and Clark for initiating these excursions, so we are coming together to remember and honor, to catch up and share, and to ensure that we “continue the legacy.”

This year, the reunion takes place during NCSU Homecoming Week. See the Black Alumni and NC State Homecoming websites for specifics regarding those events.

We also invite you to send any relevant photos that you could submit to the Steering Committee. We also encourage you to place a tribute on the Testimonials page. Finally, please share with the committee any relevant projects that we could publish online that you are now or previously have been involved in that are a result of the Africa excursion experience or any other influence of these two men. *

Registration Fee: $5 per registration to cover administrative and preparation costs of Steering Committee to be paid onsite. Dinner will be a Dutch treat at a selected restaurant.

*The Steering Committee will review all tributes and projects prior to publication.

Registration for the Legacy Dinner is CLOSED
